Watermelon Gels

Watermelon Agar-Agar Gel


INGREDIENTS

1 small watermelon (4 cups cubed)
1/3 cup sugar - heaping (any kind)
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup agar-agar
 

 

MAKES 8 PORTIONS


METHOD

Blend the watermelon in a blender until smooth. Pour mixture through a fine strainer 2 or 3 times to remove the pulp of the juice.

In a medium saucepan slowly bring the watermelon juice, sugar, salt, and agar-agar to a light boil while stirring constantly.

Pour hot mixture into a pan, small muffin cup moulds, or other moulds. You can also pour the mixture directly into a food processor if you intend to make a gel.


Tips!

You can find Agar-Agar at most health food stores. They are small white flakes that are a basic ingredient used in Japanese cuisine.
