Les Canadiennes team favourite: Turkey Chili
275 g brown rice
45 oz (2 cans) kidney beans
675 g turkey, ground (non-vegetarian only)
75 oz (4 cans) black beans (vegetarian only)
28 oz tomatoes, crushed in cans
30 oz tomatoes, diced in cans
80 mL oil, olive
1.5 tsp hot sauce
0.75 tsp pepper
1.5 tsp salt
1.5 tsp chili Powder
1.5 tsp oregano
1.5 tbsp cumin
3 cloves garlic
1.5 cups mushrooms
1 to 2 peppers, green
1 to 2 pepper, red
1 to 2 onion
1 to 2 jalapenos
It is recommended you make this recipe in a slow cooker. For a vegetarian version, just replace the turkey with black beans.
MAKES 8 PORTIONS
Prepare all vegetables. Dice peppers. Mince garlic and jalapenos.
Prepare all try ingredients and canned ingredients. Add them directly to the slow cooker.
Add meat and rice last and stir well.
Turn slow cooker on high for 3 to 4 hours.
